Most internships suck.
Glorified resume padding. A college student gets a spot because their parents know someone, spends a summer doing busywork, and leaves with a meaningless line on their LinkedIn profile. No real experience, mentorship, or insight into what makes a company great.
We built Viget’s internship to be something we’re proud of.
For 15+ years, we’ve refined a highly selective, carefully designed 10-week experience that helps college students become early-career professionals.
What makes ours different:
- A real curriculum. Personalized training, clear learning goals, and hands-on mentorship from dedicated advisors, all led by the amazing Aubrey Lear.
- Meaningful work. Real-world digital product experience, collaboration with our teams, and a portfolio-worthy project.
- Exceptional peers. Competitive, merit-based selection. No favor spots. Interns are surrounded by talented, ambitious people who earned their place, just like they did.
- Full immersion. Our interns work in person in beautiful Boulder, Colorado, while connecting with our team across the U.S., experiencing firsthand how our digital agency operates.
- A proven track record. Nearly 100 interns have come through, and alumni have gone on to great companies like Google, Amazon, Apple, Meta, SpaceX, and more.
Our interns learn what great mentorship and company culture look like, build lifelong friendships and professional connections, and leave with a clearer sense of what’s possible for their career.
So what’s in it for us?
Doing what’s good for college students and what’s good for our business aren’t mutually exclusive.
- Recruiting pipeline. 1 in 5 interns have returned to Viget full-time. In many ways, it’s a 10-week mutual evaluation process. We learn who might thrive here long-term, and interns discover whether Viget is somewhere they’d like to start their careers.
- Manager pipeline. We use a maker-manager model: our managers are also hands-on practitioners, which keeps management grounded in mentorship. But being a great practitioner doesn’t necessarily make someone a great manager. Advising an intern gives aspiring managers a chance to develop those skills. Advisors onboard, run one-on-ones, and write a performance review at the summer’s end. Many go on to join our management team.
- Sharper practices. Teaching others how we work forces us to explain why we work that way, often uncovering ways we can improve. Curious, intelligent, hardworking young people ask great questions, bring new perspectives, and share inspiring ideas that make us better.
- New client pipeline. Our best clients are people who know us well. As former interns build their careers, some find themselves in positions to hire agencies like Viget. When they remember us and reach out, it’s an incredible compliment.
- Culture boost. Having college students integrated into our culture for 10 weeks every summer creates a noticeable boost in our internal energy, collaboration, and fun. They aren’t just learning; they’re contributing. They write articles, deliver Labshares, and their group project and final presentation at the end of the summer are always a highlight of the year.

Internships don’t have to suck. Done right, they’re an investment in the next generation of talent, the future of your company, and the relationships that connect the two. Everyone wins.
