As a UI Developer Intern, you'll spend your summer working alongside our designers and developers. You'll meticulously build out design compositions into HTML/CSS for integration into backend systems. You'll join client meetings to experience client presentations and design consultations. You'll meet regularly with your Advisor to discuss your progress, and you'll participate in monthly team discussions.
You'll experience all aspects of a digital project by working with members of other discipline teams. You'll join client meetings to experience how development expectations are defined for projects from the outset. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to client work and internal Viget initiatives, and you'll meet regularly with your Advisor to discuss your progress on personalized learning goals.
In other words, you will make websites come alive.
The Basics
- The internship program is offered at all four of our office locations (Falls Church, VA; Durham, NC; Chattanooga, TN; and Boulder, CO) with flexibility to WFH (Work From Home) some of the time.
- The internship lasts 10 weeks, from June 5 to August 11.
- Interns will be expected to work 40 hours/week (usually 9-5, M-F, but we can be somewhat flexible).
- Relocation is not provided.
About You (You may not have all of these, and that's okay!)
- You have impressive front-end coding abilities (HTML/CSS).
- You have a demonstrated passion for technology. You're interested in Craft CMS, Wordpress, and other blogging/CMS software, as well as in server-side code like Node.js, PHP, or Ruby.
- You are collaborative. You'd enjoy working alongside both our development and design teams.
- You are extremely detail-oriented.
- You get things done. No matter what you're doing, you take pride in your work. You enjoy responsibility and you know that real effort pays off daily.
- You are currently enrolled in college, preferably as a junior or senior. We also consider graduate students and recent grads in some cases.
- You have a track record of holding leadership positions, balancing school and work, or other equivalent examples of success.
- You have the permanent, legal right to work in the US. We are unable to sponsor visas at this time.
Benefits
We offer $550/week ($5,500/summer), paid monthly on a pro rata basis. Course credit is also an option.
We provide free coffee, soda, and snacks in the office.
We provide free lunch once a week to all staff (including interns).
We offer several opportunities to connect with coworkers each week, both in-person and virtually, including our weekly all-hands meeting.
You’ll experience Viget at its most vigorous by participating in summer activities, challenges, hang-outs, etc.
