FALLS CHURCH, VA – Two of Viget's own – Patrick Reagan and Ben Scofield – are updating their passports and practicing the basics of German over the next week in preparation for RAILSCONF, Sept. 17-19, in Berlin.

Reagan, the Lab's Director of Application Development, and Scofield, Senior Developer, will be joined by hundreds of other Rails enthusiasts at the sold-out conference to exchange ideas and celebrate Ruby on Rails' third birthday.

Brian Williams, Viget's CEO and Co-Founder, believes that engaging in international discussion on current web trends is a "großartig" way to ensure the Lab remains on the cutting-edge of the latest development techniques.

"I'm proud of these guys for blazing the global trail," he said. "Sharing ideas worldwide expands Viget's community boundaries and capitalizes on an even greater body of knowledge."

Reagan is planning to attend sessions whose topics could affect – and potentially improve – processes in the development lab. A few of those include, "Behavior-Driven Development on Rails with RSpec," "Deployment and Continuous Integration," and "Browser-Based Testing with Selenium."

"I'm also interested in the 'Using Adobe Flex with Rails' tutorial session. I want to see if there's an easy integration point between Adobe's AIR – for "Webtop" applications – and our Rails applications," he said.

Scofield will be attending The "Forgotten Child: Powerful CSS with Rails," in hopes of learning techniques that will allow designers to capitalize on Rails.

"I'm also looking forward to 'Meta-Magic in Rails,' which could help us make the most of Ruby, and 'Exploring Very Rapid Development Techniques with Hobo,' because Hobo is one of the interesting frameworks people are building on top of Rails," Scofield said.

Co-presented by Ruby Central, Inc., and O'Reilly Media, Inc., the conference aims to "bring together hundreds of Rails practitioners from Europe and around the world for three days of presentations, tutorials, and Rails camaraderie."
