When we recruit developers, our position description always includes the bullet point, "Actively participate in the local developer / technology community." A corollary to that requirement is that as a company, Viget actively supports the community whenever possible. Accordingly, we jumped at the chance to sponsor and host the upcoming Washington DC chapter of iphoneDevCamp3.

iPhoneDevCamp will take place on the evening of Friday, July 31st and all day Saturday, August 1st at Viget's Falls Church, VA office. It will follow the unconference format, similar to Barcamp, and be focused on developing applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch.  This will be the inaugural event in DC, but the phenomenon goes back more than two years to San Francisco and has been repeated worldwide.  The organizers are actively seeking additional sponsors and volunteers, and registration is open.  Attendance will be capped at 50. Keep up with the details at http://iphonedevcampdc.eventbrite.com/

In the past, we hosted StartUp Weekend and several RailsRumble teams. Both of those events were a lot of fun. We're excited to have iPhoneDevCamp make use of our space, hope to meet some new people, and can't wait to see what the developers come up with.
