Extended Talent Network
The work we take on is big, fast, and rarely simple. When an engagement needs a niche skillset or an extra set of hands beyond our full-time team, we partner with some of the best independent practitioners in the world to deliver Viget-level care and craft. Our extended talent network has been part of some of our proudest work, and we're always glad to meet more people who share our standards.
Why work with Viget
We're a product agency, not a staffing agency. That distinction shapes what it's like to contract with us. You'll work alongside and be supported by people who talk about design and engineering every day, on engagements our team is heavily invested in.
You'll work on things built to ship. Our clients move fast and go live, which means real products for real users — not pitch decks and spec work left to gather dust. The work tends to be visually and technically ambitious, and makes for strong portfolio pieces.
You’ll work with interesting, ambitious clients. Our extended team has helped us:
- Launch category-defining products for Robinhood, accelerating growth and setting the design benchmark for consumer fintech
- Forge the design foundation and strategy for a scrappy, early-stage startup
- Craft highly interactive microsites that educate and inform for clients like Google, The Ad Council, and the National Park Foundation
- Turn emerging business opportunities into tangible products for a Fortune 100 insurance company's innovation incubator
You’ll get paid on time. The operations team that supports our extended talent network is responsive, hands-on, and detail-oriented. In other words, you won't have to chase anyone down or navigate a confusing portal to get paid on time.
Opportunities to benefit from and contribute to Viget’s culture. You'll have access to a Slack channel with your Viget collaborators, monthly workshare meetings, and the occasional Viget team event. Stuck on something? There's a whole network of smart, generous people a message away. And the exchange runs both ways — we love learning from our network, whether that's from casually talking shop about AI or a dedicated opportunity to walk our team through your work.
What we look for
We’ve worked with more than a hundred contractors over the years. The nature of the work means we lean on people who can ramp up quickly, gain context on their own, and deliver. People who are successful often:
- Have at least 5 years of professional experience in their area of expertise
- Have prior experience working at an agency, as a freelancer, or as an embedded contractor
- Can independently drive complex projects from concept to completion, balancing function, aesthetics, and usability along the way
- Take pride in what they do, consistently delivering high quality work with notable polish and excellent attention to detail
- Meet deadlines and are considerate of clients' budgets and timelines
- Are responsive, proactive, and effective communicators (written and verbal)
- Collaborate exceptionally well with stakeholders, from cross-discipline peers to C-level executives
- Engage with new technologies with open-minded curiosity and are eager to educate their teams about industry-leading ways to strategize, design, and build
Two things make a submission stand out:
Show us work that maps to ours. We're looking for evidence that you've made things at a similar level of quality, complexity, craft, and scale to what our team delivers. If you're not sure whether you're a fit, take a look at our work.
Be clear about what you offer. We want to know the specific service(s) you provide, not a general sense of your background. Precision here helps us match you to the right opportunity faster.
What happens after you submit
Your submission comes to our Talent team, and a human reviews it. We try to respond to everyone. If your work looks relevant to what we do, we'll reach out to schedule a call. Most of these are general conversations — a chance for us to learn about your practice and for you to learn how we work — so that when the right project comes along, we already know each other. Sometimes the call is about a specific opportunity we're actively trying to fill.
We won't always have a project that matches, and the timing may not line up right away. But we keep promising talent in mind, and we prioritize our pre-vetted network when work comes in.
