DURHAM, NC – Viget Labs' Durham office has been leading the charge in establishing Refresh the Triangle, a community of web designers and developers from different cities who are working to “refresh” the creative, technical, and professional culture of new media endeavors in their areas through design, technology, usability, and standards.

The community is based on the larger international Refresh group that aims to gather great minds, share knowledge, grow and learn, promote local talent, and make cities better.

The first meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Viget's office in Durham. Jackson Fox, a user experience engineer at Lulu.com and graduate student in Information & Library Science at UNC Chapel Hill, will present, "Refresh 001: Building User-Centered Web Apps in a Crunch."

Peyton Crump, the Lab's Creative Director, said Refresh groups are pivotal in bringing new energy and awareness to the design and development industry. Participants act on new ideas by implementing the very latest web trends, techniques, and technologies; promoting local industry events and talent; and knowing where to find resources to create the strongest web projects, hire the most talented web people, and organize the best web events for each city.

"Locally, with Refresh the Triangle, we're not trying to reinvent the meet-up or networking group. There are plenty already in the area," Crump said. "We're just trying to refresh the local community by getting folks re-energized about what’s going on in the local area and the web industry as a whole."
