LaunchBox Digital, DC's early-stage investment / accelerator program, started last year with a solid portfolio of companies.  Since going through the program several of them have received funding and are doing well.

When the program was being put together last year, I worked with Sean to figure out a way for Viget to support the start-ups by providing half-day working sessions with each company.  It was a great way for our teams to offer advice, experience, and even design services with the start-ups.  We're passionate about working with early-stage companies, so it was fun for us and, more importantly, the LaunchBox teams really seemed to get a lot out of the sessions.

At the end of the summer, we got together with Matt to talk about how it went and what could be done better in 2009.  One of our suggestions was for LaunchBox to do a better job documenting the experience the teams were having, primarily through an updated web site and blog.  The teams were doing great work, the mentors were imparting great advice ... why not share more with the start-up community everywhere?

Matt took that suggestion to heart and, as his 2009 planning was gearing up, he asked us to help.  Over the past few weeks, we completed a quick redesign of the recently re-launched LaunchBox web site as part of our support for the 2009 program.  We'll be involved in other ways this year as well.

The deadline for applying to the program is March 16th.  If you have a solid team and a good idea, I suggest you apply.
