Front-End Developer

Viget Labs is a full-service web consulting and development firm based in Falls Church, VA.  We've been at it since 1999 and have earned a solid reputation as a rare firm that does both great design and development work when building award-winning web sites.  We work with web start-ups (e.g, Squidoo, Loladex, ODEO, Razoo, and a few we can't talk about yet), as well as traditional businesses (e.g., Strayer University, Preferred Offices), and non-profits (e.g., EarthEcho, Healthy Child).

Our Front-End Developer will work within our Design Lab and be expected to:
  • Appreciate that web standards, accessibility, and usability are essential to uphold.
  • Find joy in taking flat design comps and making them interactive interfaces.
  • Have expert-level experience with XHTML, CSS, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Be talented users of JavaScript libraries such as Scriptaculous, Protype or JQuery (hand-coding JavaScript skills a plus!)
  • Know and enjoy using ExpressionEngine, Wordpress, or any other blogging/CMS software (experience with ExpressionEngine is a super bonus).
  • Extrapolate initial design visions to develop the front end of a web site or application.
  • Have unparalleled attention to detail when maintaining the sanctity of original designs.
  • Play well with others – and take pride in their communicative and collaborative abilities.
  • Appreciate variety in their work, but remain committed to projects that take weeks of focused effort to complete.
  • Be obsessed with following Best Practices in optimizing and replacing images, using unobtrusive JavaScript, and adhering to accessibility guidelines.
  • Generally have experience with server-side code such as PHP or Ruby on Rails.
  • Meet deadlines without breaking a sweat (okay, maybe you will sweat a little sometimes).
You must also:
  • Have at least two years of professional, post-collegiate experience.
  • Have a BS, BFA or equivalent work experience.
