UX Strategy is a highly multidisciplinary field that includes the research and planning of complex digital experiences and compelling websites. It covers all aspects of how a user interacts with digital interfaces and content. You might be good at it if, besides being passionate about technology, you're fascinated by psychology, anthropology, sociology, architecture, or cognitive science. You might be good at it if you have recurring nightmares about using your school’s course registration platform, and even better if you find yourself brainstorming ways to make it more usable. As an intern, you'll learn about all aspects of the UX process, including discovery, user research, content strategy, information architecture, and interaction design.
You'll experience all aspects of a digital project by working with members of other discipline teams. You'll gain valuable exposure to client projects and deliverables, join meetings, and experience client presentations and design consultations. And, throughout the program, you'll meet regularly with your Advisor to identify and make progress on personalized learning goals.
The Basics
- The internship program is offered at all four of our office locations (Falls Church, VA; Durham, NC; Chattanooga, TN; and Boulder, CO) with flexibility to WFH (Work From Home) some of the time.
- The internship lasts 10 weeks, from June 5 to August 11.
- Interns will be expected to work 40 hours/week (usually 9-5, M-F, but we can be somewhat flexible).
- Relocation is not provided.
About You (You may not have all of these, and that's okay!)
- You're passionate about technology. You're eager to know about the latest trends, methods, and tools in the web and tech industries.
- You want to make websites more useful and usable. You get frustrated when things don’t work well and want to make them better.
- You'd enjoy diving into project details and working with teammates to define a plan.
- You ask “why” often because you like sussing out problems and aren’t afraid to ask questions.
- You have an innate sense for what a good experience using a website should be about.
- You get things done. No matter what you're doing, you take pride in your work. You enjoy responsibility and you know that real effort pays off daily.
- You also take pride in listening, communicating, and collaborating exceptionally well.
- You're currently enrolled in college, preferably as a junior or senior. We also consider graduate students and recent grads in some cases.
- You have a track record of holding leadership positions, balancing school and work, or other equivalent examples of success.
- You have the permanent, legal right to work in the US. We are unable to sponsor visas at this time.
Benefits
We offer $550/week ($5,500/summer), paid monthly on a pro rata basis. Course credit is also an option.
We provide free coffee, soda, and snacks in the office.

We offer several opportunities to connect with coworkers each week, both in-person and virtually, including our weekly all-hands meeting.
