Ruby Hack Night

Matt Swasey
Matt Swasey, Web Developer, May 21, 2008 5

A couple of co-workers and I have been tossing around the idea of having a Ruby Hack Night in the DC metropolitan area for the past few weeks.  We are going to start out small, and have a very informal gathering at Murky Coffee in downtown Arlington on the night of June 18th, the third Wednesday of the month.  If you would like to join us, we will be there starting at 7pm.  Murky Coffee does not take space reservations, so we don’t have a set aside meeting location.  I am going to try and get the back room which holds about ten people comfortably.  If we have a larger crowed that than, we can migrate to the upstairs.  So, we’d love to see you there if you are a Ruby hacker wanting to get together with other DC Ruby hackers and work on various projects (of your choice).

We will ask everyone there what they are going to work on, and what they would like help with if anyone is interested.  So, if you have a project, bring that, if you don’t have a project, but would like to help someone else with theirs, that would be awesome.

Hope to see you there!

I’m there! I’ll be playing with erlang, ejabberd, eventmachine, and anything distributed/concurrent.  If anything, I highly recommend you at least come and try the coffee.

Matt and I talked about hacking some more on Tyrant, so I’ll either be doing that or submitting some patches to Rails that I’ve been thinking about.  Murky closes at 9, so we’ll have to move it over to Galaxy Hut afterwards....

Enjoyed meeting you guys.  Find me on irc (djwonk) sometime, I’d like to see what you all were doing with Passenger.

I would like to attend.  Do you have a google calender set up so that I can subscribe? or a website/blog so that I can see what will be happening at the next meeting?

@Rodney We’d love to see more faces Rodney so feel free to join us!  Currently, this is the blog you should be watching for announcements re: hack night.  The next one is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 10th (every 2nd Wednesday).  We’ll announce that officially via a forthcoming blog post.  As to what will be happening, that is up for you to decide!  Anything you want to hack on or chat about is fair game.  Usually people will post what they plan to work on in the comments of the blog post so you can get an idea of what other people will be working on.  Look forward to seeing you there.

I think that polymorphic_url(@commentable, :anchor => “comment_#{@comment.id}") should work. You can also refactor the “comment_#{@comment.id}” to a separated method, like dom_id, which returns the dom identifier of the comment.
