viget pushup clubNot only do we build web businesses, we also build muscles. Last week I randomly asked a few people if they would be interested in doing pushups with me at work as my solo pushup routine was lonely (read: sucked). I received a resounding "Rarrr" (because when discussing pushups, a "yes" would never suffice).  Ever since pushup club started, we as a group have collectively broken 7 keyboards, ripped off 12 doorknobs, fractured 4 knuckles while shaking hands, and accidentally crushed 85 pop (not soda) cans.

The following video actually happened.

P.S. This wasn’t actually sponsored by Pay the Fan…

P.S.S. You can dive deeper into the iron psyche that is PUC via Twitter at http://www.twemes.com/vigetpushupclub

I want in!

Last week we had bowlingthunder.org, this week we have the PUC video ... Wow. There’s so much to be proud of working here at Viget. Seriously, Josh, great job. I love this video. Viget South is going to have to make a ping pong film - stay tuned.

@Tom: Way to bring the muscles to the designers. There has been a poor, poor showing of designers. Developers are hardcore.

@Emily: Can’t wait!

A few thoughts…

1. Josh was only doing 1/2 push ups
2. The girl was the only Viget’er doing REAL push ups.
3. Bronto v Viget in a “push up off” - name the time and the place.

Game on.

@DJ: Ohhhohoohohhooo SNAP. I just literally smashed someone’s face because of you DJ. Are you happy? Maybe you think they’re 1/2 pushups because they’re lightning fast...?

It’s on. We’ll get back to you. You will be crushed physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and anything otherly you can think of.

Eric Vessels said  on  08/12  at  01:33 PM

Become a Bronto client and THIS is what we get turned on to?  Damn.  I thought we were crazy (we are), but this is pretty - ahum - enlightening.

Great stuff.  Now to tweet DJ and ask where the hell my shirt is…

Adam Covati said  on  08/12  at  01:41 PM

I like how Andy had a Bronto shirt on, see even when we aren’t doing push up we’re still owning you guys! The challenge is on!!

Stephanie Hay said  on  08/12  at  04:08 PM

I appreciate the fine folks at Bronto for pointing out the reality of pushup club: the daily occurrence during which Steph demonstrates proper form to all the dudes who aspire for such greatness.

Josh Chambers said  on  08/12  at  04:14 PM

@Adam: We’re going to burn that shirt--even (especially) if Andy is wearing it. I accept your challenge.

@Steph: One more remark like that and you’re outta here. I mean OUTTA here. I’ll throw you straight through a window...because I can (my shirt just spontaneously ripped in half)

Detroit said  on  08/12  at  04:19 PM

I told Stephanie when I watched the video she looked like the only one doing real push-ups. Looks like I’m not the only one who noticed…

Either way, I’m bringing P.U.C. to the F.M.C (Ford Motor Company, that is) We’ll do it greenly, fuel-efficiently, and automotively.

Andy Rankin said  on  08/12  at  04:33 PM

@Bronto - watch it or else in the next video I’ll go back to wearing my Emma t-shirt.

Emily Bloom said  on  08/12  at  04:39 PM

I’m all for Steph getting credit where credit is due, but certainly Brian’s vertical pushups are impressive enough to be considered “REAL” even if they aren’t standard form.

@dj at viget we employ WOMEN, not girls… don’t get me started, my friend…

DJ Waldow said  on  08/12  at  04:44 PM

@Andy - You wanna play that game, huh? I see. Maybe when I stop by the Viget South offices tomorrow, I “leave a little surprise behind.”

@Deeeetroit - like how you roll (roll, cars, ford, get it?). you a U-M grad?

@Eric - look for your Bronto shirt in the snail mail

@Josh - sticks and stones....sticks and stones

@Emmerblue - i love women. my bad on the “girls” reference. what is the proper cutoff age for girls/women? 18?

@covati - push up “practice” tomorrow starts at 7AM Sharp - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGDBR2L5kzI

Also, just to clarify, while Pay the Fan (a Viget client) didn’t really sponsor PUC we do LOVE Pay the Fan!  We just didn’t want folks to think that our authentic PUC video was some lame viral marketing effort by Pay the Fan.  I reality, Pay the Fan was the “sponsor” because they had recently sent us some really cool hats and so we had them handy.  If Bronto had sent us more than one t-shirt maybe they could have been the sponsor.

Rob Slade said  on  08/12  at  04:58 PM

@Andy, why would Bronto want to sponser the loser of the PUC challenge?

Tom Osborne said  on  08/12  at  05:59 PM

@DJ - That Bronto shirt is pretty awesome, I’ll take one!

Jason Malone said  on  08/13  at  07:17 AM

Fellow Brontos, here is our training video. Let the PUC competition begin!!

@dj, went to northwestern, the “better” big 10 school (except in everything athletic outside of pretentious sports like lacrosse, fencing, tennis, swimming and golf)

i realize i’m needing to make a video in order to be taken seriously.

Owen Shifflett said  on  08/13  at  01:42 PM

That was just about the most intensely awesome thing I’ve ever seen on the internets.

adena said  on  08/14  at  02:47 PM

I have a better understanding of the Viget intensity after watching that video. Impressive.

Mom Chambers said  on  08/20  at  05:23 PM

WAY TO GO JOSH- YOU MAKE A MOTHER PROUD!!  GREAT video, especially the President ( of push up club)------

Stephanie Hay said  on  08/20  at  05:23 PM

Now THAT is awesome.

Joan Piedra said  on  08/21  at  02:35 AM

Haha, I loved the “President of Viget” part.
Good video guys. Keep the fun.

DJ Waldow said  on  08/21  at  05:30 AM

Right. So....I was serious about a Bronto v Viget “Push Up Off.” I’d personally like to take on @stephay22. Not afraid to go head to head against a woman.

Bring it Viget North.

@Mom: I’m proud of you for turning the computer on let alone commenting on a blog! Well done. Also...I’m never going to live this down

@DJ: Name the time and place. You set it up, we’ll crush you.

DJ Waldow said  on  08/21  at  03:36 PM

@josh - hmmmm. virtual PU contest. Probably should be “after hours.” I’m picturing some sort of cisco videoconferencing: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/video/ps1870/index.html - okay, maybe that is too expensive, but you get the idea. We need to make this real time, live, unedited, raw. Maybe Account Managers v Account Managers, Pres v Pres, Sales Dir v Sales Dir…

I’m thinking about a Wednesday evening in early September.

What do you think?

Nathan said  on  08/22  at  12:10 AM

Let me guess: are there rules to the Push-up Club? And the first two involve not talking about PUC?

Sarah said  on  09/04  at  12:12 PM

What song is that?  I love it!

Josh said  on  09/04  at  12:44 PM

@Sarah: “Bloc Party - Flux” off the album “A Weekend in the City”

You can listen to it here

Megan McConville said  on  09/04  at  12:45 PM

That video just totally made my day...and gave me an abdominal workout from all the laughing. See, Viget is spreading the fitness! Days like today I really miss you guys!

ethan said  on  09/05  at  07:48 AM

That looks awesome.

DJ Waldow said  on  10/13  at  07:40 AM

Wow. Love that this blog post continues to get commented on. Who is up for a quick brainstorming call this week to discuss the Bronto v Viget contest rules and logistics?

Adam Covati said  on  10/13  at  07:44 AM

Contest rules? I need a meeting to figure out my rigorous training plan. Montage anyone? http://idek.net/57
